Lincraft has always been led by skilled retailers with a vision that has allowed the company to diversify and grow, with over 60 stores in Australia and New Zealand and exciting plans to open even more!
Owners John Maguire and Brian Swersky established Lincraft Australia in 2005, with the retail chain specialising in craft, fabric, yarn, haberdashery, window furnishings, manchester and fashion accessories. The business prides itself on valuing the ever-changing and evolving world of craft, sending our most passionate buyers to the ends of the earth to the world’s major craft, yarn and fabric fairs, with strict instructions to source the latest in fashion and creative ideas and return with fresh inspirations.
Our aim is to inspire – and we know that nothing is more rewarding than creating something with your own hands. Once the love of craft starts, it can be difficult to stop! That’s the inspiration behind Lincraft’s “How To Make” series – from bags to boleros, slippers to hoodies, patchwork quilts to Christmas scrapbooks – an entire library of free projects that are easy to do, hard to resist and available in store or online.

Lincraft Essentials Concept Stores
In 2016, Lincraft launched its Lincraft Essentials store model. Lincraft Essentials are more intimate, specialized and compact stores that are focused on craft, fabric, patterns, wool and haberdashery products. The stores are dedicated to catering to the diverse needs of lovers of home creativity including craft, art, knitting and sewing. Elegant and streamlined, Lincraft Essentials will be the go-to store for all your designing and crafting needs. Each Lincraft Essentials store has been designed to produce a more inviting and engaging ambience, with trained staff to assist you to allow your imagination and inspiration be transformed into something beautiful. Products have been handpicked to ensure customers have the best and most exclusive range to choose from including Australia’s largest yarn range.

Dear Valued Lincraft Customer,
Today, we are sharing news that is both difficult and deeply emotional for everyone at Lincraft. After more than 80 years of serving creative communities across Australia and New Zealand, we have made the decision to progressively close our physical store network over the coming months.
For generations, Lincraft has been more than just a store. It has been a place where ideas came to life, where families learned to sew and knit together, where projects were started, gifts were lovingly handmade, and lifelong creative passions were nurtured. Many of you have been part of that journey for years some for decades and we are incredibly grateful for your support.
This decision has not been made lightly. We understand that Lincraft holds a special place in the hearts of many customers, and we know this news will be disappointing for those who have shared our love of creativity, crafting, sewing, knitting, and home projects.
Our stores will not close immediately. The closure process will occur progressively. We remain committed to serving our customers throughout this period and helping you continue the projects and passions you love.
Importantly, Lincraft will continue to operate online, allowing customers to shop with us as the transition unfolds. We remind our dear Club members to take advantage of our Members Save offers while stock lasts. For Gold members, free shipping still applies on every online order, use it before we close. Lastly, you may still use gift cards and redeem points now while there is still stock to spend them on.
